The House Laundry Attendant is responsible for washing, ironing, folding and distributing all soiled linens, towels, napkins and tablecloths.
Responsibilities include being attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to guests, managers and fellow employees; understanding operation of washing machines and dryers; loading and unloading washes according to standards; washing and drying all dirty linens, towels, rags, etc.; sorting all hotel linen according to type, color, size, etc.; pre-treating all stained linen before washing; cleaning dryer filter daily and maintaining all equipment as trained; operating iron as per standard and ensuring that it is shut off at the end of day; sweeping and mopping laundry floors, storing all linens off the floor; folding towels and linens; removing and sorting dirty linens and towels from laundry carts; keeping laundry carts clean and free of debris; maintaining clean work area; sorting clean laundry according to type and loading carts; and ensuring overall guest satisfaction.
Qualifications include flexible and long hours sometimes required; medium work - exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects; ability to stand during entire shift; maintaining regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel; maintaining high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform and nametag; and complying with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
