Job Title: Physical Therapist Assistant

Su mmary: Assists physical therapists in providing physical therapy treatments and procedures. May, in accordance with state laws, assist the development of treatment plans, carry out routine functions, document the progress of treatment, and modify specific treatments in accordance with patient status and within the scope of treatment plans established by a physical therapist by performing the following duties.

  1. Instructs, motivates, safeguards, and assists patients as they practice exercises and functional activities.
  2. Confers with physical therapy staff or others to discuss and evaluate patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating
  3. Administers active and passive manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, and heat, light, sound, water, anodyne, and electrical modality treatments, such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, lontophoresis, assistive devices, body mechanics, paraffin, and joint
  4. Observes patients during treatments to compile and evaluate data on patients' responses and progress, to report to physical
  5. Measures patients' range-of-joint motion, body parts, and vital signs to determine effects of treatment for the patient's evaluations and then re-evaluates to include overall re­ assessment and manual muscle testing.
  6. Secures patients into or onto therapy equipment.
  7. Fits patients for orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices such as
  8. Trains patients in the use of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive
  9. Transports patients to and from treatment areas, lifting and transferring them according to positioning requirements.
  10. Monitors operation of equipment and records use of equipment and administration of
  11. Cleans work area and checks, cleans, and stores equipment after
  12. Assists patients to dress, undress, or put on and remove supportive devices, such as braces, splints, and slings.
  13. Administers traction to relieve neck and back pain, using intermittent and static traction
  14. Performs clinical duties, such as taking inventory, ordering supplies, answering telephone, taking messages, and filling out forms.
  15. Completes SOAP notes and place any findings for re-evaluations in physical therapists in
  16. Orders supplies for clinic and to retail for home
  17. Instructs and supervises aids in how best to assist
  18. Maintains current
  19. Participates in continuing education as
  20. Maintains and improves professionalism and knowledge through continuing
  21. Performs other related duties as

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree (A. A. I S.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid state license as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and staff.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Previous experience as a Rehab Aide is highly desirable.
  • Strong verbal, written, and analytical skills
  • CPR Certification (Preferred)
