Job Description

Description Responsible for the management and supervision of the Safety & Security Department, ensuring a safe and secure living and working environment for students and staff. The role includes conducting investigations of accidents and incidents to resolve issues and reduce future occurrences, applying judgment and discretion to address student and staff concerns, overseeing staff performance, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and company policies. Follows integrity guidelines and procedures to prevent manipulation of student data. Leads center‑wide security and coordinates execution of the safety program. Interviews, recommends for hire, disciplines, recommends for termination, and evaluates performance of Safety & Security Department employees; fills vacancies promptly. Motivates, empowers, and holds staff accountable to perform their job responsibilities. Develops annual plans for submission to the Department of Labor. Complies with DOL/Company reporting requirements. Conducts center investigations and compiles reports such as Significant Incident and TORT Claims. Coordinates and documents the Safety Committee and OSHA compliance program. Oversees the student/staff safety awards program. Compiles, analyzes, and summarizes safety/security data and takes corrective action. Coordinates staff coverage to supervise student areas and ensures staff adhere to rest and meal break requirements. Conducts and documents center‑wide safety and accident prevention training. Documents incident and accident investigations per established timelines. Ensures compliance with PRH, DOL, Job Corps, and Company Safety Directives and Requirements. Conducts routine safety inspections and assesses hazards in all center equipment and facilities. Manages center security, visitor control, student accountability, and the Environmental Health Program. Documents, tracks, and follows up on significant incident reports. Employs sound time‑management and delegation skills; holds staff accountable, develops career progression, and disciplines non‑compliant staff. Provides required and supplemental training for new and current employees. Motivates staff, creates a supportive work environment, recognizes achievements, and addresses performance concerns. Builds community linkages for education, employment, career technical training, and work‑based learning; promotes a positive image of the Center and Job Corps. Mentors and models the Career Success Standards required by the PRH. Provides high‑quality supervision to the student population, influences positive behavior, and holds students accountable. Ensures quality programs and services for students, pursuing continuous improvement. Exchanges ideas and information orally and in writing clearly and contributes meaningfully to group efforts. Articulates solutions, identifies problems, analyzes causes, evaluates solutions, follows up to ensure corrective action. Partners with staff from all departments to provide effective supervision and services to students. Accepts direction and supervision from the Center Director, Duty Officer, or Shift Manager and can temporarily perform duties of other departments and positions. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree from an accredited institution or related certifications preferred. Minimum of three years’ experience in military, law enforcement, or safety management. OSHA Certification required. Valid in‑state driver's license and compliance with company insurability requirements; Department of Labor approval required if reporting to the Center Director. Physical ability to sit, stand, climb, walk, lift, pull, push, carry, reach, stoop, and crouch; able to lift 40 pounds or request assistance for heavier loads. #J-18808-Ljbffr The Voluntary Protection Programs Participants' Association, Inc
