Clerk Typist 1

An employee in this class types documents using a county issued laptop. Work involves performing clerical and typing duties within a structured work setting which is characterized by standardized duties that follow well established methods and procedures. Work involves typing and processing a variety of documents related to a portion of a work process or a single office activity which is production or control oriented. Work may involve the skilled utilization of specialized equipment such as magnetic and mass storage equipment/programs and similar equipment where the input is through a laptop console. Work being typed and the processes followed are repetitive and require very little adaptability to shifts in work schedules. Work is initially reviewed closely, and close supervision is received when new work processes or procedures are introduced, however, employees are expected to perform with limited guidance after the work process is learned and on regular assignments. File room duties require the ability to lift 40-50 pounds with no restrictions.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

• Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Westmoreland County. If no eligible candidates who live within Westmoreland County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

• You must pass a background investigation.
• A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
• This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
• Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
